Sammy Sosa Is Out of His Mind

Major league baseball players have reported for Spring Training and games have been played. Baseball is back! Yippee!

This time of the year we, the sports fans, get a glimpse of young prospects, players trying to make a roster, and the new look to our favorite teams lineup. There is always hype about the teams with the best chance to win the World Series, as well as what the likelihood the World Series Champs will repeat. Sometimes we also get bizarre stories that leave us scratching out heads.

Not to long ago, Sammy Sosa was interviewed. During this interview he discussed many topics including his relationship with the World Champion Cubs and the allegations he cheated. Now, it’s a pretty well known and universally understood fact Sammy Sosa cheated. He tested positive for steroids in 2003 and he was suspended for 8 games for his corked bat incident.

Despite his cheating ways, some might say Sammy Sosa is a fairly entertaining figure. However, recently he made comments that might be proof is his out of his God damn mind. In a recent interview with Chuck Wasserstrom, Sosa was asked about the likelihood the he and the Cubs would work out their differences.

Sosa responded by saying he “put Chicago on the map.” Sammy, do you mean to say you made Chicago a common house hold sporting name? Really?! I would wager a guess Walter Peyton, Micheal Jordan, and even Ryan Sandberg helped familiarize the American public with the windy city before your cheating ass came along.

And even if he meant, he put the Chicago Cubs on the map, he’s still crazy. The Chicago Cubs have a great storied history, including great players like Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddex, Ryan Sandberg, etc, etc. These players and others helped make the Cubs a household name. Some might argue Steve Bartman is more of a piece of Chicago Cubs history than Sammy Sosa

But Slammin Sammy did not stop there. When asked about his use of steroids and how he felt about fans judging him, he then compared himself to Jesus Christ.

Sammy: “Chuck, it’s like Jesus Christ when he came to Jerusalem. Everybody thought Jesus Christ was a witch (laughing) – and he was our savior. So if they talk (poop) about Jesus Christ, what about me? Are you kidding me?”

Oh, boy…oh, my….I haven’t got the words.
